We hopped on a local bus and headed over to the Coral Coast. We were still a couple of days early so booked into the Sandy Point beach cottages.
It was like going back in time as the cottages had been built in the late sixties.
We enjoyed long chats with the owner who was a third generation Fiji born European who had a great deal to do with aviation in the islands.
We used the local bus to go into Sigitika for supplies.Everything from NZ was very expensive.
For example
A bar of chocolate was $16, weetbix was $9 for a med box.
It was mentally very hard to plan meals as supermarket shopping is so different. We ended up with Indian ingredients which were readily available.
The local market had bountious quantities of fresh fruit and veg.
