We positioned ourselves in the Lampinni
district of Bangkok at the Pinnacle hotel a last minuite booking.It was very comfortable and central for all our needs.
Our priority was to obtain a Vietnamese Visa which we managed on our first day.We also used the sky train above ground which helped us find our bearings.
We hired a river boat and driver and spent a couple of hours exploring the canal systems.
Initially the smell of the river was over whelming but we slowly got used to it.

The next day we used the metro to get to the main railway station where we purchased tickets for the next leg of our journey to Chang Mei.An overnight train. We booked a second class sleeper!
