Dien Bien Phu to SaPa

Another early start but a beautiful day toe head up into the mountains again. On the bus and away at 6.25 am.
The first 2 hours we wound our way through pockets of farm land and villages. Then we came to a massive dam project underway. From here there was no road just very deep muddy tracks and steep drop offs into a very turbulant fast flowing river and traffic of all shapes and sizes. We were bumped and thrown about the ford transit van that was our bus packed with passengers traveling 10 to 20km per hour for three hours plus!
Talk about an adventure! It all eventually ended with a lunch stop at a road side stall while the driver made some running repairs.
From here it was onward and upward over a very high mountain pass  on a sealed road to the very picturesque mountain hillside town of Sa Pa.
We had no problem finding reasonable accommodation as it was low season.
The sun was shining and we still had half the afternoon left so we walked down to the valley floor to see the local mountain tribes people at work.It was very steep but well worth the effort. We were stopped by all the local women wanting to sell their crafts. They were very persistant which became a bit tedious.
The scenery was stunning.
The town itself reminded us of Queenstown.Busy and very commercial.A very fun happening place for the young.
The views over the town could have been  Switzerland.
