After a dissagreement with a Tuk tuk driver and a fast walk we made it to the station with 1/2 an hour to spare. The train was bang on time 2mins and we were off.
The sleeper was very comfortable with 1up and 1down.
Awake at dawn didn't want to miss a thing.
We arrived In Chiang Mei at 8.45 am.
Taxi to the old city and with a bit of searching found a gem of a Guest house at a very reasonable price 400 baht per night $16nz.With a beautiful swimming pool!!!
We stayed three nights.
Chiang Mei is more relaxed than Bangkok.Caters for the young traveller.Bars treking etc etc.
We enjoyed the Sunday night market.Roads are closed off. It covers kilometers.
A lot of ethnic clothing and crafts and delicious food.My pick of the night was Sticky rice with Mango and coconut cream. We had to find a step to sit on to enjoy it.
