We left Chiang Rei early to fit in as much as we could before crossing in to Laos.
First stop was the Monkey Cave at Mae Sai.The monkeys were free in their own natural environment which was great to see.
Onwards to the boarder city (Myanmar and Thailand) of Mae Sai.
The ladies wanted photos and grabbed me.Very friendly.
At the centre of the Golden Triangle three countries meet divided by the Mekong.
We stopped for a delicious lunch of Khao Soi Kai, then spent an hour in the Opium museum.
We followed the Mekong down to Chiang Kong where we departed Thailand and crossed the Mekong in a long boat to Bokeo, Laos.We had to apply for a visa on the spot whicwh took some time.Very hot work.Jeff changed some money and became an instant millionaire! in Laos Kip.
Quite enough to go to the market and buy some fruit and a beer for a well earned sit down to watch the sun set over the Mekong.
