Cinque Terre , , Riomaggiore

Our next expedition was to the Cinque Terre , five towns perched along the rugged coast line of the Italian Riviera.
We drove through La Spezia, a very busy navel port and up into the hills on a very narrow winding road then on to a very high road with a very steep drop off into the Mediterranean!
Up until 2011 you could walk between the villages, but a huge mud slide has closed parts of the track, now tourists have to rely on the frequent ferries or trains.
We drove to the first town Riomaggiore and were directed to a car park, then walked down the very steep main street into the town.We fell in love with it immediately and spent a few hours exploring the streets and marina.
